POLICE officers of the Port of Spain Division Task Force and CID successfully prevented an attempted robbery at 711 Sports Bar on Independence Square in Port of Spain this morning. One suspect was injured, and two others were arrested.

Investigators on the scene told CCN that the men entered the bar around 10:30a.m and demanded a quantity of cash from the bar owner.

An undisclosed quantity of cash was put in a small brown box, but as the bandits attempted to flee, eyewitnesses say one of them was shot by the police. The box with the money was later retrieved just outside the bar.
