Two men were arrested on Tuesday night following an attempted street robbery in Barataria.
Police said the incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. on 6th Avenue near St. George’s Savannah, when the victim was confronted by two armed suspects. One suspect grabbed the victim’s cellphone, valued at $3,000, while the second held onto his arm.
A white SUV then approached the scene, allowing the victim to pull free from the suspects. He flagged down what turned out to he police officers in the vehicle, alerting them that an attempted robbery was in progress. WPC Sequea exited and apprehended the first suspect on site. Meanwhile, PC Quan, with the assistance of the victim, gave chase in an unmarked police vehicle and captured the second suspect at the corner of 5th Avenue and 6th Street.
