A 62-year-old retired police constable was attacked and seriously bitten by a pitbull outside his Claxton Bay home on Saturday night.
O’Neil Sookhoo, of Ramsawak Road, Cedar Hill Road, said around 9.45 p.m. he had just returned home with his family and was walking towards his premises when several stray dogs ran toward him aggressively. Among them, he told police, was a light grey dog he believed to be a pitbull.
Sookhoo said he attempted to drive the dogs away, but the pitbull launched at him, biting his left leg and then continuing to attack his body. His wife rushed to his aid with a tree branch, and his daughter handed him a cutlass, which he used to defend himself.
