Local author and environmental advocate Katrina Khan-Roberts is set to bring fantasy to life with the official launch of her latest children’s book, The Secret of the Arboretum, on Saturday, May 23rd, at The Arboretum in Tucker Valley, Chaguaramas.
Ms. Khan-Roberts, known for her longstanding work in environmental stewardship and ocean literacy, has spent the past 15 years volunteering with youth organisations focused on climate adaptation and environmental education. Alongside her advocacy work, she has built a reputation within Trinidad and Tobago’s performing and visual arts community and has authored several books over the past five years.
Her literary achievements include receiving the NALIS First-Time Author Award in 2021 and the National Youth Award in 2022. Her mermaid-inspired creative persona, “Mertrina,” has also been recognised as part of UNESCO’s Blue Thread ocean literacy network.
