Removing the demerit points system will undermine accountability on the nation’s roads.

This according to Laventille East/Morvant Member of Parliament Christian Birchwood as he addressed supporters of the People’s National Movement (PNM) during a public meeting in Beetham Gardens on Thursday evening.

Shortly before that meeting, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Eli Zakour announced at a post-Cabinet news confe­rence that the Cabinet had approved the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment to the 9th Schedule) Order, 2025.
