A MAN who was charged with the 2023 murder of a Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) employee has been discharged of the offence.
The court found that Antonio Mendoza had no case to answer after the issue of identification was raised by his lawyers, Aaron Patrick and Frank Gittens, during the judge-alone trial before Justice Nalini Singh.
Mendoza, also called Lall, of Bayshore, Marabella, was charged with the murder of Dario Sandiford. Sandiford was in his vehicle in his yard at Ste Madeleine in August 2023 when he was approached by a suspect who fatally shot him. In making her ruling on Friday, Singh noted the State’s case in which three police officers asserted they personally knew a man called Antonio Mendoza of Bayshore, Marabella and that the person they saw on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage was him.
