Disgruntled employees of the National Maintenance Training and Security Company Ltd (MTS) staged a peaceful protest outside the company’s San Fernando office yesterday morning, alleging unfair transfers and promotions, victimisation, inadequate protective equipment and supplies.
Chanting and holding placards, which stated “Workers Have Rights”, “Nepotism in MTS”, “Misconduct of Managers” and “Wrongful Promotion and Demotion”, and under the watchful eyes of officers of the San Fernando Police Station, a group of ten employees protested outside the Rushworth Street office, which was closed.
“The management knew we were coming here today to protest, so they closed up the office,” said employee Candace Trotman, who said she was last stationed at the Point Fortin East Secondary School.
