French Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Guillaume Pierre, has welcomed T&T’s election to the United Nations Security Council, saying the country will bring a vital Caribbean perspective to global discussions while strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
Speaking at Bastille Day celebrations on Tuesday, he praised Trinidad and Tobago’s election to the United Nations Security Council, describing it as recognition of the country’s diversity and leadership on the international stage.
“We have been very happy to see Trinidad and Tobago be elected very widely to a seat in the United Nations Security Council. We are happy because we believe in the wisdom that lies here, in that country so diverse in its population where every creed and race finds an equal place, that of a country that will carry a unique and necessary voice, the voice of a cultural powerhouse, the voice of the Caribbean, the voice of small islands, voices that must be heard.”
