The election of Trinidad and Tobago to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term represents one of the most significant diplomatic achievements in our nation’s history. As Minister of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on this historic accomplishment.
Securing the support of 181 countries and earning the confidence of the international community is a remarkable endorsement of Trinidad and Tobago’s commitment to responsible global leadership, peace, security and sustainable development. This achievement is a direct reflection of the strategic vision, tireless diplomacy and distinguished leadership of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, whose engagement with world leaders and unwavering advocacy for our nation’s interests have elevated Trinidad and Tobago’s standing on the global stage.
