A targeted search at the Maximum Security Prison has led to the seizure of 49 packs of Lucky Strike cigarettes believed to have been smuggled into the facility.
The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service says the operation was conducted Thursday morning following intelligence that drones were being used to deliver contraband. Thirty-three packs were found in a cell in B Division, while another 16 packs were discovered hidden in a black sock on the prison rooftop.
Investigations are ongoing, and three inmates are expected to be charged. Prison officials say they remain committed to preventing the entry of contraband into the nation’s prisons.
