SEVERAL booth vendors around the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain are calling for refunds after suffering what they said were “extreme” financial losses for Carnival 2026, as the Flava Village initiative “pulled all the people”.
The vendors are calling on Culture Minister Michelle Benjamin to reimburse their $1,500 fee for use of the booths, which most food vendors were not able to occupy until the Saturday before Carnival.
Food and craft vendors who spoke to the Sunday Express on Friday declined to use their names, emphasising they were “not against the Government or Flava Village”.
