A 52-year-old security officer accidentally discharged his firearm inside a Siparia bank on Monday afternoon, causing minor property damage but no injuries.
The officer was on duty at First Citizen Bank, Siparia around 4:25 p.m. when he went to the men’s washroom upstairs. According to police, he placed the loaded gun on the counter while using the facility. When he attempted to retrieve it, the firearm accidentally discharged, striking a wall.
The officer, who carries 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition as part of his duties with Collateral Security and Investigation, reported the incident to his supervisor and continued his shift before closing the bank at 6:20 p.m. He later went to the police station to file an official report.
