The Trinidad and To­ba­go Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice has is­sued a yel­low lev­el alert from 6 p.m. on Sat­ur­day 17 May to 6 p.m. on Sun­day 18 May, warn­ing of un­set­tled weath­er con­di­tions this week­end.

South-east­er­ly winds are ex­pect­ed to pull in equa­to­r­i­al mois­ture, in­creas­ing at­mos­pher­ic in­sta­bil­i­ty and cre­at­ing a medi­um chance of heavy show­ers and iso­lat­ed thun­der­storms. At the same time, mod­er­ate winds and high lev­els of Sa­ha­ran dust will linger, lim­it­ing wide­spread rain­fall at times.

The In­ter-Trop­i­cal Con­ver­gence Zone (ITCZ) re­mains well south of the coun­try but is ex­pect­ed to shift over Trinidad and To­ba­go by ear­ly next week.
