Caribbean Airlines advises that its Boeing 737 jet services are currently experiencing delays due to a regional outage of the SITA satellite communication system, which supports critical aircraft operational messaging.
This issue is not unique to Caribbean Airlines but is affecting all airlines that rely on the SITA network, a global air transport communications and information technology platform used by more than 400 airlines and airports worldwide.
The SITA (Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques) system facilitates real-time air-to-ground communication, including flight tracking, weather data, dispatch instructions, and other operational messaging essential for modern flight operations. The current outage is impacting the transmission of these data services, causing system-wide slowdowns and delays.
