The Sheriff General Hospital Laboratory in Region Three (Essequibo Islands–West Demerara) has secure national certification from the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS), completing the assessment process in under five months.
The laboratory was formally presented with its certification on Thursday after meeting the requirements of the GYS 170:2021 standard across four disciplines – biochemistry, immunology, serology, and haematology.
During a brief ceremony held at Sheriff General Hospital’s Inc laboratory in Leonora, West Coast Demerara, that marked this achievement, a plaque was presented by GNBS Executive Director Trevor Bassoo to Shemeeza Ally-Sonoram, Laboratory Quality Manager, and the certificate was presented by GNBS Head (Ag) of Certification Services Keon Rankin to Laboratory Quality Manager Azam Latiff, among others.
