(Kaieteur News) – The Leonora Cottage Hospital Comprehensive Diagnostic and Treatment Centre Laboratory has secured certification from the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS), marking a significant step towards improving the quality and reliability of diagnostic services in Region Three.
The certification was awarded on Wednesday last, GNBS said in a press release. The certification’s scope covers Biochemistry, Serology, Haematology and Urology. During the certification ceremony at the laboratory’s Leonora, Region Three location, GNBS Head of Certification Services Department (ag) Keon Rankin and GNBS Technical Officer, Delroy Benn, presented the certificate and plaque to Laboratory Manager, Danielle Semple in the presence of Regional Health Officer of Region Three, Dr. Fiaaz Hassan, Doctor in Charge, Dr. Anil Tulsie, Quality Manager, Tereasia Ramlochan and others.
Providing remarks on behalf of GNBS, Head of Corporate Communications, Lloyd David, stated that Leonora Cottage Hospital Laboratory is the ninth laboratory within the public health sector to be certified under the GNBS Laboratory Certification Programme. This newly certified lab brings the total number of certified laboratories in Guyana to 42, comprising both testing and medical laboratories in the public and private sectors.
