Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath has announced a short- to medium-term water relief programme, intended to regularise a pipe-borne supply for thousands across Trinidad and Tobago, and especially in underserved communities.
Padarath said yesterday the Water and Sewerage Authority’s “tank farm project” will be expanded as a temporary measure in areas throughout T&T, while the Government will be pursuing the establishment of three new desalination plants, including in Tobago.
Speaking at the post-Cabinet news conference at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s, yesterday, Padarath noted that four “tank farms” have been established in a pilot project in Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s Siparia constituency, which he described as the most underserved for a pipe-borne supply of the 41 electoral districts.
