MINISTER in the Ministry of Public Utilities Clyde Elder yesterday asked the residents of Robert Village, Tableland, to be patient as he outlined varying solutions to alleviate their water woes.
It was on Thursday that the residents aired their frustrations over the lack of pipe-borne and truck-borne water in the community and called for the intervention of the Minister of Public Utilities and officials from the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA). The residents complained of being unable to attend to their daily needs, including washing and cleaning their homes.
“Certainly we apologise to the people, and not just in Tableland, throughout Trinidad and Tobago, they have had issues with water supply for quite some time,” Elder said, as he added that the issues started over the past ten years or more. “It’s ageing infrastructure that is causing most of the problems. So we have a WASA team here along with the ministers, to show the people that we are here to listen to their plight, to bring resolution and solutions to their problems, and to ensure that going forward they have a better supply of water.”
