The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) is still investigating what caused a second major power outage in Tobago last night, less than 12 hours after the first incident.
T&TEC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Annabelle Brasnell, said the outage began around 6.34 pm and affected about 90 percent of customers across the island. She said it was not a total blackout, but a partial system shutdown similar to the earlier disruption yesterday morning.
“Ninety percent of the customers last night were back on in under 40 minutes, and the balance within an hour. So in both instances, nobody would have been out for more than an hour,” Brasnell told Guardian Media.
