TRINIDAD and Tobago will establish its first embassy in the Middle East, with Government choosing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the country’s new diplomatic mission.
Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Sean Sobers made the announcement in Parliament yesterday as he reported on the outcomes of T&T’s participation in the 81st Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA, last month.
“I have the permission from the Cabinet and the Prime Minister to indicate that Trinidad and Tobago will for the very first time open an embassy in the United Arab Emirates, being the first embassy in the Middle East,” Sobers said, as Government MPs thumped their desks in approval.
