ATTORNEY GENERAL John Jeremie says 'halfbillionaires' were created under the former People's National Movement (PNM) administration through programmes that the Kamla Persad-Bissessar Government had to shut down because they were fuelling gangs.
The Attorney General made the comment during the winding up of debate on The Criminal Records (Rehabilitation of Offenders) Bill, 2026, in Parliament on Wednesday.
He said there had been significant discussion from the Opposition Bench about programmes which were discontinued.
