Sudhir Ramessar, known to his childhood friends as “Wheels,” revered within the differently abled community as one of its fiercest advocates, and celebrated by Paralympians as one of their most committed champions, has died.
Ramessar passed away at hospital on Friday night, his wife Kavita confirmed. He was 59 and the father of one. His funeral will be held today.
Tributes have poured in locally, regionally, and internationally for the long-serving disability rights activist and President of the Trinidad and Tobago Paralympic Committee (TTPC), whose life’s work reshaped the landscape of para sport and disability advocacy in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.
