CUBA’S Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Gustavo Veliz, has expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago for their continuous support at the United Nations.
Speaking at a wreath-laying ceremony before a small gathering at Piarco International Airport yesterday, Ambassador Veliz specifically thanked the country for supporting the resolution calling for the lifting of the US blockade against Cuba and for speaking out against Cuba’s inclusion on the US State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
The ceremony itself marked the 49th anniversary of the terrorist attack on Cubana de Aviación Flight CU-455, which occurred in Barbados in 1976 and resulted in the loss of 73 lives, including 57 Cuban nationals.
