An inmate housed at the Maximum Security Prison died on Christmas Day after being found unresponsive in his cell, the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service has confirmed.
In a statement, prison officials said the incident occurred on Christmas Day, during routine rounds by officers.
According to an interim report, Alfredo Jose Britto Cedeno, a "prohibited immigrant" who had been remanded on a charge of trafficking marijuana, was discovered unresponsive inside his cell.
