Prime MinÂisÂter AnÂdrew HolÂness SunÂday anÂnounced SepÂtemÂber 3 as the date for the genÂerÂal elecÂtions in JaÂmaica as his rulÂing JaÂmaica Labour ParÂty (JLP) seeks a third conÂsecÂuÂtive term in ofÂfice.
NomÂiÂnaÂtion Day will be AuÂgust 18.
HolÂness, 53, adÂdressÂing a ralÂly at Half Way Tree, a neighÂbourÂhood in the city of Kingston, told supÂportÂers that he had earÂliÂer on SunÂday inÂformed the GovÂerÂnor GenÂerÂal Sir Patrick Allen of the deÂciÂsion to call the poll.
