Barbadian sprinter Desean Boyce booked his place in the men’s 400m semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland after clocking 46.55 seconds to finish second in Heat 1 on Tuesday.
Kyle Gale missed out on a semi-final spot after placing fifth in Heat 5 in 47.41 seconds.
Meanwhile, Kuron Griffith’s 100m campaign ended in the semi-finals after he finished eighth in his heat in 10.26 seconds. In the women’s 100m semi-finals, Kishawna Niles produced a season’s best 11.44 seconds but missed out on a place in the final after finishing fourth in her heat. In the pool, Victor Ashby clocked 27.26 seconds in the heats of the 50m Butterfly to finish fifth in heat four. Christen Kelly was next up in heat five and finished fourth in 25.54.
