Several Barbadian athletes advanced to the finals of their respective events on the opening day of the NACAC Under-18 and Under-23 Championships in Mexico.
Nyah Clarke got the team off to a strong start, winning the Under-18 Girls’ 100m heat in 11.91 seconds to comfortably advance to the final, where she clocked 11.69 seconds to finish sixth.
Kishawna Niles also advanced to the Under-23 Women’s final after clocking 11.59 seconds to finish third in heat number two, while Aniya Nurse clocked 11.74 seconds in heat number one and did not advance. Niles’ time of 11.41 seconds in the final then saw her finishing in sixth position.
