Local Government and Rural Development Minister Khadijah Ameen is appealing to local government councillors across Trinidad: avoid politicising the current flooding crisis and focus on your duty to assist affected communities.
Speaking at the post-Cabinet news conference at the Red House, Port of Spain yesterday, Ameen—who has oversight of all 14 local government corporations in Trinidad—expressed concern about the orange-level alert issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Office (TTMS).
The alert, which was extended to today, warns of continued torrential rainfall and widespread flooding.
