FLASH flooding across the country but mostly in Trinidad yesterday morning prompted the Prime Minister to order various ministries and the regional corporations to get boots on the ground, and respond quickly to emergencies while assessing damage.

Street flooding and some residential flooding hit parts of Trinidad in varying degrees by early yesterday morning, as the arrival of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) marked the onset of the 2025 rainy season. Heavy impact on activities and traffic was seen around the country, as well as several cases of fallen trees and minor landslides.
