(Kaieteur News) – For the first time in the 25-year history of the Miss Amerindian Heritage pageant, the coveted crown was captured by Region Four delegate Alliah Simon. Simon, a native of St. Cuthbert’s Mission/Pakuri was crowned Miss Amerindian Heritage at the National Cultural Centre, on Wednesday, marking an incredibly proud moment for those involved.
The crowning moment encapsulated beauty, confidence, culture and heritage represented by each of ten delegates in the competition. Along with Simon the 1st Runner-Up prize went to Mariella Courtman of Region Two, Tracey Winters of Region Nine copped 2nd Runner-Up , 3rd Runner-Up: Laura Carvalho of Region 8 and 4th Runner-Up: Venezia Adrain of Region Five.
This year’s heritage queen is a biologist and a public relations / project management coordinator pursuing an MSc in Project Management. She is also a co-founder for the University of Guyana Indigenous Students Society.
