Police in the Penal district are investigating the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Collis Meade, a labourer of Sunrees Road, Penal, in what is believed to be a gang-related attack.
Around 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, explosions were reported near Farooks Auto Supplies Ltd, SS Erin Road, Penal. First responders from the Penal Police Station arrived and observed several spent 9mm shell casings on the roadway.
Enquiries revealed that Meade was walking along SS Erin Road with his wife, a cousin, and the cousin’s partner when a white vehicle pulled alongside them. A man of African descent, slim build, dark complexion, approximately 5’6–8” tall, wearing a white t-shirt, blue pants, white and blue shoes, and a black ski mask, exited the vehicle armed with a firearm and fired multiple shots at the group.
