Kaieteur News– Police have reportedly released the wife and other family members of US-sanctioned Guyanese businessman Mark “Demon” Cromwell on a total of $1 million station bail following their detention in connection with the disappearance of two Surinamese nationals.
The family members were detained at the East La Penitence and Kitty Police Stations as investigators probed the disappearance of 28-year-old Van Dalen Lorenzo and 29-year-old Derryl Danillo.
Kaieteur News understands that the relatives were released after the 72-hour detention period expired without investigators gathering sufficient evidence to lay formal charges. Under Guyana’s legal framework, police may detain a person for questioning for up to 72 hours. Once that period expires, the person must either be released, released on bail, or brought before the court, depending on the circumstances.
