Clive Ramdial, 66, of First Caigual Road, Sangre Chiquito, died on Tuesday after being pinned by a falling rubber tree while working in a rubber tree field in Manzanilla.
According to police reports, around 11:40 a.m., Ramdial was felling rubber trees with Gary Persue. While cutting a tree approximately two and a half miles along a private road off First Caigual Road, one tree fell onto another, causing it to change direction and strike Ramdial, pinning him to the ground.
Persue reportedly used a chainsaw to free Ramdial, who was initially responsive but immobile. Persue then contacted his employer, Richard Ramoutar, owner of Manzanilla Sawmill #3, who, along with others, transported Ramdial to the Sangre Grande Hospital for medical attention. Ramdial succumbed to his injuries later that day.
