72 lbs of cocaine found along Five Miles–Ituni Trail

(Kaieteur News) – Police have seized 72.1 pounds (32.7kg) of cocaine following the discovery of a large quantity of the drug along the Five Miles–Ituni Trail in the Upper Demerara River area on Friday.
According to police, the discovery was made at about 17:00hrs on September 11, 2026, during an operation along the trail.
Ranks reportedly observed a motor pickup travelling out of the area. Upon seeing the police, the driver stopped the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes, abandoning the pickup.
