Sev­er­al res­i­dents in the Princes Town con­stituen­cy yes­ter­day wel­comed the re­moval of Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress in­cum­bent MP Bar­ry Padarath who had been their rep­re­sen­ta­tive for the last ten years.

While none of the con­stituents who spoke with Guardian Me­dia were fa­mil­iar with the UNC’s prospec­tive can­di­date, Dr Aiy­na Ali, a den­tist, they were will­ing to “give her a chance.”

Res­i­dents in New Grant, St Julien and Per­ry Young claimed they had not seen Padarath in their com­mu­ni­ties for a long time.
