The PeoÂple’s NaÂtionÂal MoveÂment’s (PNM) NaÂtionÂal Women’s League has come out strongÂly in deÂfence of OpÂpoÂsiÂtion Leader PenÂneÂlope BeckÂles, inÂsistÂing she will deÂcide the fuÂture of SenÂaÂtor Janelle John-Bates “in due course” while acÂcusÂing the UnitÂed NaÂtionÂal ConÂgress (UNC) of hypocrisy and poÂlitÂiÂcal disÂtracÂtion.
In a stateÂment isÂsued on MonÂday, the Women’s League disÂmissed mountÂing critÂiÂcism from Leader of GovÂernÂment BusiÂness BarÂry Padarath over BeckÂles’ conÂtinÂued siÂlence on whether she will acÂcept John-Bates’ resÂigÂnaÂtion from the OpÂpoÂsiÂtion SenÂate bench.
“The NaÂtionÂal Women’s League of the PeoÂple’s NaÂtionÂal MoveÂment stands solidÂly beÂhind the deÂciÂsion of OpÂpoÂsiÂtion Leader, the HoÂnÂourable PenÂneÂlope BeckÂles-RobinÂson, to igÂnore the hysÂteÂria the UNC is desÂperÂateÂly tryÂing to creÂate around the comÂpoÂsiÂtion of the OpÂpoÂsiÂtion’s SenÂate bench,” the group statÂed.
