Will Prime Minister Kam­la Persad-Bissessar’s Government approve a new Police Commissioner recommended by a Police Service Commission (PolSC) which included members the Uni­ted National Congress (UNC) had opposed?

On the Parliament’s Order Paper are two key Government motions brought by Minister of Homeland Security Ro­ger Alexander, seeking parliamentary approval for Special Branch Snr Supt Allister Guevarro as Commissioner of Police, and Wayne Mystar as acting deputy commissioner.

There was no confir­mation from Government members yes­ter­­day on what that po­si­tion will be when the House of Represen­tatives meets tomorrow.
