Police shot and killed two men in Sangre Grande on Sunday evening after receiving intelligence that they were planning an armed robbery targeting patrons following the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) cricket final.
Around 6:37 p.m., officers of the North Central Division Gang and Intelligence Unit (NCDGIU) were on surveillance duty in Jairasingh Village when they spotted a red Honda Vezel linked to the alleged plot.
As officers attempted to intercept the vehicle, the suspects allegedly opened fire. Police said they returned fire in self-defence.
