The Senate approved a motion on the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) (Remote Gambling) Order, 2026, on Friday.
Remote gambling refers to gambling conducted remotely using technology such as the internet, telephone, television or other electronic means.
During the debate, Attorney General John Jeremie SC addressed concerns raised by the Opposition and clarified when the remaining provisions of the online gambling legislation, including the licensing of online gaming operators, are expected to take effect.
