THE Gambling (Gaming and Betting) (Remote Gambling) Order, 2026 was unanimously passed in the Senate yesterday morning, senators voting in favour of amending the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Act, 2021 to create a legal framework that would permit remote gambling.
The order received Opposition and Independent support after it was piloted by Minister of Finance Davendranath Tancoo and approved in the House of Representatives earlier this week.
The order seeks to amend section 76 (1) of the Act which creates an offence for the use of remote gambling equipment in Trinidad and Tobago for the purpose of inviting or enabling a person in a prohibited territory to participate in remote gambling.
