Ahead of Saturday’s first ODI between West Indies and New Zealand at Providence, Cricket West Indies (CWI) official partner Unicomer (Guyana) Inc. hosted the official Windies Experience yesterday at Courts’ Mega store Main Street branch.
The event featured some 20 future cricketers from the Malteenoes Sports Club Cricket Academy who were blessed to rub shoulders with members of the West Indies contingent, featuring Guyanese stars Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Keemo Paul and St. Lucian Ackeem Auguste.
The foundation of the event was based on Unicomer’s donation of G$500,000 to the Malteenoes Sports Club to support the ongoing development of its academy programme. Gillian Matthews, Unicomer’s Directing Manager, expressed great pleasure at the company being at the forefront of West Indies cricket development, noting that in being good citizens, it is essentially to give back especially to the growth of sport by virtue of the building the grassroots programme.
