Attorney Fayola Sandy has released a statement on behalf of Kaia Sealy from the United States, where Sealy is undergoing treatment for injuries she sustained during the January 20 police shooting incident that left her common-law husband Joshua Samaroo dead.
In the emotional statement, Sealy denied ever handling or firing a gun and rejected allegations that she shot at police officers or caused Samaroo’s death. She described the events of January 20 as traumatic and life-altering, recalling being critically injured, placed under police guard in hospital, separated from family members and later learning through media reports that arrest warrants had been issued against her.
Sealy maintained that she cooperated fully with investigators throughout the months-long probe and said she remains innocent. She also questioned aspects of the police investigation and treatment following the shooting, while insisting that “the full truth” of what happened would eventually emerge.
