Ministers Applaud PM’s Focus On Crime, Security And UN Reform

Several Government Ministers have praised Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar following her address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.

Acting Prime Minister and Couva North MP Jearlean John described Mrs Persad-Bissessar’s address as “brilliant”, highlighting her focus on transnational organised crime, UN reform and improving citizens’ lives.

“The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago called for international cooperation to be measured by its results, with the safety and well-being of people at the centre of efforts to restore trust. Transnational organised crime remains a serious threat to small island states, with criminal networks directly endangering citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Strengthened coordination with the United States to dismantle criminal syndicates forms part of the Government’s efforts to restore security to communities.”
