Authorities are investigating the death of 47-year-old fisherman Anton Brain Osmond, whose body was discovered floating in the sea near Alice Point, Chaguaramas, three days after he went missing.
Osmond, a resident of 24th Street, Beetham Gardens, left home at 7 a.m. on Friday, March 20, to retrieve his boat from Alcan Fishing Depot, Western Main Road, Chaguaramas, and head out to fish. When he failed to return, his mother, Catherine Osmond, reported him missing to the Carenage Police Station the following day.
The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard later found Osmond’s boat drifting empty in the vicinity of Five Islands. Despite extensive searches, no sign of the fisherman was located until around 6:11 p.m. on Monday when his partially decomposed body was recovered approximately 200 metres off Five Islands.
