nestÂing seaÂson in Trinidad and ToÂbaÂgo will beÂgin on 1st March 2025 and run through 31st AuÂgust 2025. The MinÂistry reÂminds the pubÂlic three beachÂes—FishÂing Pond, MatuÂra, and Grande RivÂière—serve as the priÂmaÂry nestÂing sites for the isÂland's sea turÂtles, and these arÂeas are desÂigÂnatÂed as ProÂhibÂitÂed Zones.
UnÂder the ForÂest Act, which govÂerns acÂcess to these arÂeas, perÂmisÂsion is reÂquired for enÂtry for the purÂpose of turÂtle viewÂing. The MinÂistry has made it clear perÂmits can be obÂtained from Forestry DiÂviÂsion and DisÂtrict RevÂenue ofÂfices startÂing on 28th FebÂruÂary 2025. “We urge the pubÂlic to act reÂsponÂsiÂbly and avoid any acÂtions that could disÂrupt the nestÂing process, harm the turÂtles, or lead to nest abanÂdonÂment,” the MinÂistry said via reÂlease.
