UNC Chairman Davendranath Tancoo is condemning the heckling of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC and Culture Minister Michelle Benjamin during African Emancipation Day celebrations, calling it an act of political intolerance.
Mr. Tancoo described the incident as a deliberate attempt to inject division into an occasion centred on freedom, dignity and unity, and said the targeting of two women leaders was particularly shameful.
He accused the Opposition PNM of engaging in divisive politics, claiming the party is attempting to distract from its own internal challenges rather than offering constructive alternatives.
