Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s quest to advance from the FIBA AmeriCup Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers came to an end on Sunday, as Antigua and Barbuda secured the lone qualifying spot from Group B with a decisive 86-57 victory over the previously unbeaten Turks and Caicos Islands.
The result dashed Guyana’s hopes of extending its campaign, despite the Golden Jaguars producing a commendable recovery after a disappointing start to the tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
With only one team from each group progressing to the next stage of the AmeriCup Qualifiers, every game carried knockout-like importance.
