Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s hopes of securing their first victory at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2027 Centrobasket Qualifiers suffered another setback on Wednesday evening, as they went down 87-71 to the United States Virgin Islands in Group Phase action at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua, Nicaragua.
Despite another outstanding all-round display from captain Joy Adams, the Guyanese women were unable to match the Virgin Islands’ balanced attack, which saw four players score in double figures en route to a commanding victory.
The defeat leaves Guyana still searching for its first win of the tournament after opening its campaign with a heartbreaking loss to El Salvador.
