The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) says it is actively engaging the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) to determine the cause of the islandwide outage, assess the adequacy of the company's response, and get an update on system stability.
JPS has indicated that service has been restored to customers islandwide and that it will continue to monitor the system for stability.
The OUR, in a media release on Saturday, said it requested a preliminary report from JPS by Monday, which it says should include the sequence of events, contributing factors, and the nature and impact of the outage on the generation, transmission, and distribution systems, as well as on supply to customers.
