The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is reporting that, as at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, more than 80 per cent, approximately 550,000 of the company’s 690,000 customers, have had power restored following last night’s islandwide outage.
The light and power company says every effort is being made to restore supply to all customers as safely and quickly as possible.
JPS CEO Hugh Grant, in a video message posted on the company’s social media, indicated that lightning may have contributed to the outage, which JPS previously said was the result of a system failure.
